La Aduana: 1966 Land Rover Series IIA 109

It’s hard not to love the Series Land Rovers. Their classic design embodies an image of the golden age of adventure, when man and machine pushed the boundaries of vehicle based travel and explored territory never before seen by car. Okay, so maybe I’m a bit of a romantic when it comes to these old Rovers, but truthfully many of us are. We know they are slow, uncomfortable, and only moderately reliable when compared to the off-road vehicles of today; yet we continue to love them despite those issues. While their heritage plays a role in that, I think it’s the rugged and almost unapologetic design that really wins us over. Series Rovers like this one aren’t trying to be something they’re not. It doesn’t have a plush interior or anything that could even resemble luxury, just what it needs to get the job done. That’s how it should be though, instead of isolating you behind thick soundproofing doors they remind us why we travel in the first place, to experience the world around us.
