2001 Mitsubishi Montero Limited :: Classifieds

Mitsubishi Montero

The Montero remains one of the most affordable pre-owned Japanese 4WDs on the forum despite incorporating many of the same desirable traits as the pinnacle rigs we know and love. Recent offerings include a $9,000 1994, an $11,000 1998, and an $8,500 2000. Today’s 2001 (145,000 miles) example is one of the best values to date and showcases a selection of tasteful upgrades. At just $6,000 OBO this is a lot of vehicle for the money and would serve as the ideal blank canvas for a full overland build-out or could be enjoyed as is. I recently completed a 7,000-mile road trip from the UK to Scandinavia in another affordable Mitsubishi 4×4, and it didn’t miss a beat. The trip was a reminder that you don’t have to spend a fortune to see the world. The Montero’s 4WD pedigree means there’s no shortage of inspiring builds online from the likes of Gon Dirtin, JS Overland, and UTADV

From the Seller:

“I’ve owned this truck since 95,000 miles. It was garage-kept before I purchased it, and during my ownership it has been a great rig for mild to moderate trails and camping. The 4WD works as it should, although the low gear beeps while engaged (likely needs a solenoid replaced) but engages fine. All maintenance is up to date [see original listing for full details]. There are a few bad points such as paint oxidation on the hood and roof, an oil leak at the valve cover, and the driver’s seat electric will not allow it to slide forward (most likely needs a new switch).”
