Overland Classifieds :: 1998 Mitsubishi Montero

During the pandemic, the price of used vehicles skyrocketed, with many rigs selling for considerably more than market value. It was a sad state of affairs as vehicle travel and adventures close to home boomed, but more people than ever were priced out of affording a suitable vehicle. Fortunately, I have some positive news: the used vehicle market has slowed down considerably, meaning more bargains can be had. Over the past few months, we’ve shared several budget expedition vehicles, including an $8,000 Ram 2500 with an Alaskan camper, an $8,000 2000 Land Rover Discovery 2, and a $6,000 1997 Isuzu Trooper. At these price points, you could purchase the rig, enjoy it for several years, and not lose a dime on resale. Today’s 1998 Montero showcases legendary Japanese build quality, a heavy-duty 4WD system, premium modifications, and a well-equipped interior, yet it is just $11,000. If you’d like a better idea of how this Mitsubishi can be outfitted for travel, then check out these inspiring builds from Gondirtin and on Jalopnik.

From the Seller:

Selling my low miles 1998 Mitsubishi Montero with the Cold Weather Package. This thing is a beast off-road and in the snow and has been well-maintained and serviced at Fuji Auto in Pasadena. This car is in great condition, given its age, and is showing relatively low miles with a clean title. This thing will run circles around a similarly equipped 4Runner or Land Cruiser from the same era.”
