One difficult aspect of owning multiple camera lenses is keeping track of all of the lens caps. Inevitably, they will all be different sizes, are only compatible with a single lens, and can easily be knocked off allowing dust and moisture to reach your expensive glass. However, the Pelican Rugged Lens Cover is a different breed of lens cap that was designed to solve these shortcomings.
Made from durable and stretchy silicone, the Rugged Lens Cover fits lenses with front elements ranging from 67 to 120 millimeters in diameter. For most photographers, that range covers every lens in the kit while being swappable between every lens. Additionally, the vertical columns that make up these covers provide impact protection far beyond that of a conventional lens cap, extending down the sides of the lens body. While it wouldn’t be accurate to call these water or dust-proof, they do offer a higher level of protection from both thanks to the generous overlap of the silicone cap down the sides of the lens body.

Midland MXTARM1 Tough-wedge Radio Mount
Midland’s Micromobile line of radios has been receiving praise for its functionality and compact form-factor. But the prospect of permanently installing any radio in your truck can come with some trepidations. For instance, if your initial location for the radio’s mounting bracket wasn’t ideal, you’ll probably want to improve it. But moving your radio means you will likely have to drill additional holes in your dash, or elsewhere, leaving an unpleasant visual reminder of your DIY efforts.

Katadyn BeFree Gravity 6L Water Purifier
For years the Katadyn Hiker water filter was my go-to device for purifying H20 in the backcountry. But filter technology has come a long way and many manufacturers are switching to hollow-fiber systems that use squeeze bags or gravity instead of pumping. The logic is sound. Katadyn’s BeFree Gravity 6L utilizes their popular BeFree filter design with the addition of a six-liter water bag that can be hung on a tree limb or from a vehicle’s roof rack. Suunto 9 Peak GPS Watch
For those of you who like having the latest tech close at hand, Suunto makes a range of GPS sports watches that can do everything from tracking daily workouts to analyzing heart rate and receiving text messages. If you read my recent review of the Suunto Baro 9, the features of their newest watch, the 9 Peak will be familiar. But the 9 Peak has some updates, primarily, its size. Suunto describes it as the thinnest, smallest, and toughest watch they’ve ever made.
The 9 Peak features a barometer, wrist-based heart rate monitoring, GPS navigation, blood oxygen sensing, over-the-air software updates, and is water-resistant to 100 meters.
