Herd Launches Guided Self-Drive Convoys Through Namibia
Namibian family-run operator Herd has launched guided self-drive convoy tours for travelers wanting support without surrendering their own vehicle. Each 11-day itinerary begins in Windhoek and visits Etosha National Park, Damaraland, Spitzkoppe, Sossusvlei, Sandwich Harbour, and the Meyer family’s Kalahari farm. Groups are limited to 20 guests in five four-wheel drives, accompanied by a Namibian guide, private chef, and professional filmmaker.
The crew manages routing, recovery, camp setup, and meals. Five departures are planned for 2027, beginning February 11. Prices start at €3,900 per person, with the inaugural Founders Convoy offered at €3,300, including fuel, equipment, excursions, and comprehensive insurance.
Pontos 7-Pound Packable Kayak
Pontos has introduced a 7-pound packable kayak aimed at vehicle-based travelers with limited storage and payload capacity. The skin-on-frame design collapses to the size of a small tent, so it fits inside a campervan cabinet, gear locker, or vehicle trunk without a roof rack. A puncture-resistant TPU-coated nylon outer shell is supported by a lightweight carbon-fiber frame intended to provide rigidity, tracking, and glide on the water.
According to Pontos, the kayak assembles without tools in five to seven minutes and is designed for use along varied lake shores and coastlines. The project is currently available through Kickstarter.

Interviews with Ricky Carmichael, Iván Cervantes, Jonny Walker, Jordon Smith, Mikkel Haarup, and members of Triumph’s racing program explore engineering, testing, team development, and competition in Supercross, Motocross, Enduro, and Cross-Country events.
The first episode, Without Compromise, is available through Triumph’s website and YouTube channel. Three subsequent episodes cover the team’s racing mindset, enduro program, and continuing investment in off-road performance.

Approach and departure angles rise to 25 degrees, while the breakover angle increases to 23 degrees. Geotrek Vans has introduced the Verus, a Class B+ camper built on an all-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170 cab chassis. Designed for extended travel beyond established campgrounds, it combines a 1,000-watt solar array, a 43-gallon freshwater tank, and a full-size indoor shower. The rear garage provides 60 cubic feet of storage for outdoor equipment and longer journeys. According to the Boulder-based manufacturer, the Verus offers 60 percent more living space than its Sprinter 144-based platforms.
Its combination of interior volume, electrical capacity, water storage, and all-wheel drive is intended to support longer stays at trailheads, desert campsites, and public lands.

The volunteer-run nonprofit organizes the removal of illegally dumped waste from deserts and public lands, having collected more than 220 tons of trash and 3,404 tires since its founding. Sea to Summit Earns B Corporation Certification
Sea to Summit became a Certified B Corporation after an assessment completed through the nonprofit B Lab in June 2026. The certification evaluates the outdoor-equipment company on governance, workers, community, environmental responsibility, and customers, focusing on the organization rather than individual products. Sea to Summit described the certification as a checkpoint in its continuing efforts to improve accountability and transparency.
Planned work includes developing supplier partnerships, strengthening responsible sourcing, conducting supplier screening and audits, and managing chemical and material compliance. As part of the B Corp framework, the company must complete reassessment every three years to retain its certified status.
