Overland Classifieds :: 1997 Isuzu Trooper

Overlanding should be accessible to all, but in recent years, it has felt increasingly cost-prohibitive. However, in reality, much of this is an illusion created by industry marketing, which encourages you to spend a fortune on aftermarket modifications, accessories, and campers. Sure, it’s nice to have a well-equipped rig with all the bells and whistles, but it’s not a necessity, nor is it the priority. At the end of the day, many people have traveled around the world in a 2WD sedan, as I discussed in my interview with Fabian Scholz. A reliable vehicle, preferably 4WD, is all you need, and today’s 1997 Isuzu Trooper is a wonderful example. This reliable platform showcases tasteful modifications, and a comfortable interior yet is priced at a bargain $6,000. A great price, but is it any good? In short, yes, as demonstrated by Scott Brady during his Granite Mountain expedition and on the Mexico Border Trail. If you’d like a better idea of how this rig can be outfitted on a budget, check out this easy, cheap Isuzu Trooper camper conversion on the Rolling Vistas YouTube channel. Today’s meticulously maintained offering has been a faithful travel companion for the seller and has some of the seats removed to provide a perfect blank canvas for a minimalist camping interior.

From the Seller:

I’m selling my 1997 Isuzu Trooper. This is a Japanese-made, seriously high-end SUV of its time. I am the second owner and have every receipt for maintenance (including the window sticker) from new. It has been garage-kept most of its life, and there is no paint peel or rust anywhere. It does have some light scratches here and there and a small dent in the driver’s rear. I didn’t build it to off-road, but to handle dirt roads, be reliable, and perform well on the highway.”
