Moto Camp Nerd—an All-In-One Online Store for Motorcycle Camping

One of the biggest challenges for overnight, multi-day, or long-distance motorcycle trips is what to pack. Although you can get most camping gear at any backpacking store, you may run into blank stares while asking a staff member what they recommend for lightweight camping on two wheels. Wouldn’t it be great if all this gear was in one place, along with knowledgeable staff who ride? Well, that’s exactly what Moto Camp Nerd offers.

Moto Camp Nerd (MCN) has a mission—to “outfit riders with innovative outdoor gear that saves space and weight for every motorcycle adventure.” MCN stocks compact, lightweight tents, sleeping mats and bags, and kitchen tools, along with dry bags, rackless luggage, and various motorcycle accessories.

This online shop was founded in North Carolina by Ben Williams in 2020. Like anyone else searching “motorcycle camping gear” on the internet, Ben was led down a rabbit hole to multiple stores. Now, MCN might be the only place you need to find everything for your moto camping adventures. Along with having motorcycle-specific gear, Ben understands how items best fit into panniers, and what might be the best sleeping mat and bag combination for long, exhausting dual-sport travels.

The longest item measurement on the MCN site is under 12 inches (excluding tents and chairs), which will fit most side cases/soft luggage bags.

Choose from reputable companies like Giant Loop, Zoleo, Sea to Summit, ROK Straps, Primus, and more to complete your overnight system. Or, if you’re totally new to it all and require help, Moto Camp Nerd can tailor camping packages for your next trip.

MCN also has a YouTube channel with videos on product reviews, like this portable grill, and tips like How To Go Motorcycle Camping. You’ll find a rider resource section on the MCN website with a list of moto-only campgrounds across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as well.snugpak-under-blanket-for-hammocksHere’s a message from Ben off the MCN website: “I created Moto Camp Nerd to be the home for ALL motorcycle campers. I always say ‘I don’t care what you ride, as long as you get out and ride!’ From Aprilia to Zero, cruisers to adventure bikes, everyone who has a passion for adventure on 2 wheels (sometimes 3) is welcome!”

(ADV Rider discount: While searching for more info on Moto Camp Nerd, I came across a personal message from Ben on ADV Rider giving ADV Rider Inmates 15% off orders.)
