C6, the California-based company, is a new player in the overland market, but the talent behind the company is well-known in the world of outdoor products. Tina and Dave Payne were the duo behind the incredible success of Frontrunner in the USA and are now bringing all those years of experience to the C6 project. The flagship product of C6 is the Rev Tent, a revolutionary, lightweight, and affordable tent that is available as a Rev Roof Top Tent, Rev Rack Tent (mounts directly on a platform style roof rack – Front Runner, Yakima, Rhino etc. sized at 48 x 84 inches) or Rev Tent (ground or pick up bed).
We first had a look at the C6 products at an overland show in late 2021 and were suitably impressed by C6’s products which are genuinely innovative, fresh, practical, and affordable.
Fun and funky, the Rev tents are eye-catching, and a refreshing break from the norm—but the low weight and cost of the tents are truly revolutionary. The Rev Tent weighs just 25 pounds and costs just under $800! The Rev Roof Top Tent, which includes a platform and ladder, weighs in at 84 pounds and costs a very reasonable $1,200.
The Rev Roof Top Tent is 4-season, 2-person, expedition grade, and lightweight. The modular approach to vehicle rooftop camping allows easy one-person installation and removal, effortless storage, and the ability to quickly release the Rev Tent from the vehicle to pitch anywhere at your camp destination.
One of the considerable drawbacks of traditional rooftop tents is the bulk and weight, which, when accompanied by all other necessary gear, adds significant weight that is a burden for the suspension and impacts vehicle performance both on- and off-road. A teenage girl not well versed in weight lifting faced no challenges when lifting the Rev Tent. She was also impressed by the fun factor of the C6 range, which brings color and fashion to a market dominated by military color schemes.
We look forward to watching this company grow and continue to innovate.
