Ford E-250

The Econoline is an automotive icon with automotive expert Chris Cordes stating: ““I mean, sure, the [Ford] GT won a lot of titles. And the Mustang inspired generations of enthusiasts with its big V8 and aggressive design. But the Econoline helped build America, and once it had, it stuck around to help maintain it. … When it’s done working though, the E-Series is all about hauling fun, from mountain bikes, kayaks, or white water rafts to serving as one of the best adventure vans available today.” Further still, thanks to the availability of aftermarket parts, accessories, and even on demand 4WD conversions, this commercial workhorse can be transformed into a legitimate around the world travel companion. Unsurprisingly, it’s a favourite on our forum with recent offerings including this 1994, 2000, and 2001. Cue today’s low mileage 2014 Ford E-250 4×4 (46,000 miles), which showcases tasteful modifications, an Advanced 4WD conversion, and would serve as the perfect blank canvas for a full overland build out. If you’d like a better idea of how this vehicle can be equipped for adventure then check out builds from Chip Hurley, Timberline Vans, and Montana Off Road

This low mileage, 4×4 E-250 van is the ideal platform to build the capable overlander of your dreams at an affordable price. 2014 was the last model year for the E-250 – with a time tested drivetrain that won’t leave you stranded. It’s simple, reliable, and easily maintained. Parts are readily available and relatively cheap. The engine is an efficient, but plenty powerful V8. During our ownership, oil and filters were changed every 3,000 miles. A peek at the under carriage and you’ll see everything is as it should be.”
