Ford E-250

The Ford E-Series is a favorite on the forum, with recent offerings including this 1997 Ford E-350 UJOR, 2000 E-250 Quigley, and 2014 E-350 Ujoint Offroad. This commercial icon has been in production for more than half a century and is Ford’s second longest running nameplate, surpassed only by the F-150. Automotive expert Chris Cordes states, “It has served nobly under plumbers, construction workers, delivery drivers, and electricians alike … When it’s done working though, the E-Series is all about hauling fun, from mountain bikes, kayaks, or white water rafts to serving as one of the best adventure vans available today.” Consequently, it has become a popular platform for travel thanks to its wide array of chassis/body configurations, considerable payload, and reputation for bulletproof reliability. In addition, it enjoys access to a huge catalog of aftermarket parts and on-demand 4WD conversions to optimize it for adventure. It’s quite extraordinary the ways in which owners transform these vehicles as demonstrated by builds from UJoint Offroad Colorado, Ally and Lance, and Driving Line. Cue today’s ultra-low-mileage 1994 Ford E-250 (19,000 miles), which boasts a Quigley 4×4 conversion and a partial camper conversion.

From the Seller:

This van was set up as a police detective van and the interior is built out as such. I purchased it directly from the department when they retired the vehicle due to age. Apparently, it did not get used much and has under 20,000 miles. It would make a great camper van, adventure vehicle, ski van, etc. The 4WD is hard to come by, and this vehicle is in relatively clean condition and with low use. The front seats and dash look brand new. It starts, runs, and drives, but it lurches/surges when at speed. I got the transmission checked and it operates as it should, meaning it is an engine issue. I planned to get it tuned up/repaired and converted into a camper, but I never got the project going. Right now it’s just being used to store my canoes. So it’s time to let it go.”

The E-250 is fitted with a 5.8 liter V8 that produces 210 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque and is mated to an automatic transmission. A powerful motor is matched with impressive capability thanks to a Quigley 4×4 conversion. This uprates the E-Series with a heavy-duty 4WD system, high and low range, a lifted and uprated suspension, Dana axles, and manual locking front hubs. These rugged attributes are balanced with the following driver comforts:
