Alisa Clickenger was a shy, depressed housewife when she decided to reinvent herself and learn to ride a motorcycle. Reeling from a painful divorce, Alisa found that learning to ride was not only cathartic, she was also developing skills to rebuild the confidence missing in her life, along with how to better deal with adversity, the unknown, and the unexpected.

This transformative self-discovery sent Alisa down an entirely different path. In 2009, she took seven months and rode solo from New York to Argentina. Since then, Alisa has ridden across America, including Alaska, and through Europe, India, South Africa, and the Balkans.

Alisa Clickenger now runs Women’s Motorcycle Tours and is one of the motorcycle industry’s leading voices, helping women build confidence in their lives through moto-travel.

“To me and so many other women, confidence is a little like magic stardust,” Alisa writes about the book. “When we have handfuls of it, we can move mountains. When we lack it, even simple tasks can seem overwhelming.”

In Boost Your Confidence Through Motorcycling, Alisa is your best friend on the sidelines, cheering you on and giving helpful tips to get you motivated. You’ll get a sense of how much fun it would be to ride with her. I have no doubt of Alisa’s ability to inspire female riders through this book; I’ve attended one of the Women’s Motorcycle Conferences she organizes, and there is nothing like the power of women cheering other women on.

This quick 60-page read will leave you wondering what you’re waiting for. With chapter titles like “Managing Fear” and “Getting the Support You Need,” this book gives women no excuses for learning to ride. The pages are resource-rich with links to online educational videos and other websites for learning more about riding techniques and motorcycle maintenance.

Boost Your Confidence Through Motorcycling is the kind of book you’ll want to take notes on, so grab a pen and paper or your favorite digital notation device, and get ready for some valuable information.
