We share a lot of beautiful overland classifieds but there’s just a small selection I’d choose to drive around the world, and today’s Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ80 is one of them. The Land Cruiser is almost the perfect overland vehicle but its big limiting factor for long-term travel is size. It’s not always sunshine and beach days on the road and you’ll spend weeks or even months sheltering from grim weather. The ability to live comfortably within your vehicle is key and while a roof top tent is a valid option you can’t beat a pop- or high-top roof. Hence, a Land Cruiser equipped with either option is pretty close to perfection (today’s example showcases a desirable Campteq pop-top). This is not the first Land Cruiser camper we’ve featured with previous offerings including this $181,000 2021 URJ200 Heritage Edition, a $77,000 HZJ78, and a $55,000 HZJ79. At $32,000 today’s 80-Series is one of the cheapest we’ve seen and while it may not provide the same level of luxury as the alternatives it would serve as a comfortable rolling-home. However, don’t take my word for it and check out the adventures of Destined for Wild (who actually previously owned this very rig) and recently completed the Pan American in their almost identical replacement.
From the Seller:
“Ready for full time living and global travel. I am the 4th owner of this 80 series. Was previously owned by Dirt Sunrise and meticulously maintained throughout its life. This is an extremely reliable 80 series and will take you anywhere and everywhere you want to go. It has never let me down. Although the bones of this rig are great cosmetically it is not the prettiest. Only damage is to the rear passenger door other than that normal scratches from trails. I have recently taken off the fender flares when putting on a skinner tire to match the body line but will include flares if wanted. This rig is ready to go aside from a new tent fabric as the current one is now 5 years old and could use a refresh which Eric at Campteq can do for $1,500.”
