The Scout Yoho Pop-up, One Happy Customer’s Tale

I still remember when the Scout camper was first announced, revealed to the world as a composite tan slide-in camper with minimal systems, and sold at an impressive value. I knew I wanted one. Then they announced the Kenai eight-foot model, and I was sold, placing an order and writing a check for the camper I knew would be ideal for my standard bed GMC AT4 Sierra. I lived out of that camper for months and loved the simplicity, lightweight, and durability. Through that process, I realized I needed a smaller camper and a smaller truck. I missed the more technical trails and wanted something that could traverse any road and drive through any colonial village in the Americas. That was when the ultimate pairing presented itself (for me), a heavy-duty Ineos Quartermaster and the new Scout Yoho Pop-up camper.

With minimal options, it was possible to get the camper under 1,000 pounds, and it looked like it was made for the Quartermaster. The only option I selected was their new lithium power system. I also needed to engineer and fabricate a custom camper platform that would space the Yoho two inches to clear the Ineos cab and allow better triangulation of the tie-downs. A few weeks ago, Scout reached out asking for a testimonial of my experience as a customer, which led to them sending a talented video team to Arizona for a few days of overlanding with me and the rig. They captured some great photos and put together a fun video, so we decided to share it with you.

Editor’s Note: I paid for the camper personally and received no compensation for this testimonial. I just really like the camper.
