Last year, Toyota unveiled the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. Intrigued, we asked on paper whether we loved the new vehicle or not. While it was too early to say for sure, we admitted to being quite smitten. We also speculated that, with a promised mid-$50,000 price range, the vehicle is well placed within the market and much more affordable than we expected, should Toyota dealers honor the MSRP. Toyota has now confirmed that the eagerly anticipated Land Cruiser will arrive in dealership showrooms in Spring 2024, with a base MSRP of $55,950. However, the extent of dealer markups on this appealing price point will only become clear come Spring.
Mike Tripp, vice president of Toyota Marketing, said,
“The complete redesign of the all-new Land Cruiser amounts to an incredible evolution of the vehicle. We know this new iteration had big shoes to fill, and I am absolutely thrilled to report it has exceeded our high expectations. This vehicle retains its legendary capability, and now it offers a significantly lower starting price, tons of creature comforts, and even more maneuverability on the trails. We are excited for the world to experience the next edition of Land Cruiser.”
A recap of the 2024 Land Cruiser specs is in order. One of the most significant upgrades to the 2024 Land Cruiser is its enhanced powertrain. The vehicle is powered exclusively by the i-Force Max hybrid powertrain, producing 326 horsepower, 465 pound-foot of torque, that delivers exceptional performance without compromising on efficiency (the i-Force Max powertrain, also utilized in the third-generation Toyota Tundra, has established itself as a dependable and efficient engine, achieving an average fuel economy of 22 miles per gallon in mixed driving conditions). The new Land Cruiser’s engine is designed to easily tackle the most challenging terrains while ensuring a smooth and responsive ride on urban roads thanks to full-time four-wheel drive with center- and rear-locking differentials.
In addition to its impressive performance capabilities, the 2024 Land Cruiser boasts a range of cutting-edge technological features. Toyota has equipped the vehicle with the latest automotive technology, including advanced safety systems, connectivity options, and entertainment tech. These innovations not only enhance the driving experience but also ensure passengers’ safety and comfort, making the Land Cruiser an ideal choice for families and adventure enthusiasts alike.
The interior is purportedly crafted with high-quality materials, and passengers are treated to a spacious and well-appointed cabin equipped with comfortable seating, advanced climate control systems, and a host of premium equipment. Toyota includes an array of advanced safety features designed to protect occupants in the event of a collision and to help prevent accidents from occurring in the first place. From innovative driver-assistance technologies to comprehensive airbag systems, the Land Cruiser is built to provide peace of mind for drivers and passengers alike.
The exterior design of the 2024 Land Cruiser reflects Toyota’s commitment to blending functionality with aesthetics. It is remarkably similar to the exterior of Toyota’s up-market cousin, the Lexus GX Overtrail (with a similar base MSRP). The Land Cruiser features a bold, rugged design that pays tribute to its off-road heritage while incorporating modern design elements that give it a contemporary appeal. The Land Cruiser’s exterior is characterized by its striking lines, robust stance, and distinctive front grille, making it instantly recognizable on the road.
The all-new Land Cruiser is expected to excel in terms of off-road capability. Along with a sophisticated four-wheel drive system, Toyota includes a host of off-road technologies that befit the famous nameplate. It is this capability that interests us most; we are looking forward to seeing the Land Cruiser out on the trails in the next few months.
