The SEMA Show remains one of the most important events of the year for overlanding, with OEMs and major brands launching new products and developing their prospects for the following season. 2024 is no exception, and the excitement was palpable as I walked the halls for the first day seeing exciting new concepts from companies like Toyota, Warn, EarthRoamer, Patriot Campers, Yakima, Brűder and so many others. SEMA 2024 Overlanding starts here!
In the Toyota booth, Patriot Campers launched their new Super Tourer ST5 live-in camper. This is an ideal new product for the North American consumer offering four season camping.
Toyota brought the heat with their newest concept vehicles, including the removable roof surf. Toyota is not afraid to bring some excitement to the brand.
The new RAV4 Rally concept vehicle looked the part and would be a blast to drive on forest roads (or across Namibia for that matter).
The Land Cruiser ROX is an open air concept vehicle, but certainly showed the potential for consumer application. Toyota is clearly gunning for Wrangler and Bronco.
Toyota played to their racing history with an off-road series inspired Tacoma and Land Cruiser
One of my favorites from day one, this resto mod Ford with a perfect patina. The Porsche Cayenne remains a popular modification platform, but beware the temptation as a budget build. The price of a full service can exceed the price of many used vehicles.
The Overland Journal project Ineos Quartermaster is on display in the Overland Experience area, complete with a Scout Yoho Pop-up, Eibach rear springs, 34″ BFG tires, and Nomad wheels.
Yakima is crushing it with new product, including their new 270 awning and MOD drawer systems.
Comeup winch has a new low profile winch designed for tight mounting locations, and ECOFlow is launching a new line of fridges with a built in ice maker
Ram also brought the heat with their new overland Power Wagon concept
Mopar showcased their new Hurricane crate motor and a concept plug-and-play EV drivetrain for their resto-mod Plymoth.
TAV always brings their most innovative builds engineered for remote and technical terrain.
Rossmonster and Supertramp were in the Overland Experience area with their newest truck campers.
EarthRoamer brought their new truck and layout to SEMA with improvements to the tires, spare location, and storage being the highlights.
Radflo had a nice Grenadier on display, along with their new remote reservoir shocks and steering damper for the model.
Warn and Factor 55 always have new products at SEMA, including new HD recovery gear and winches.
One of the more visually interesting new products is the ICECO fridge, which looks like a Zarges or Alubox and would be right at home in a minimalist overland build. They are also dual zone and available in two sizes. I was genuinely impressed.
The new Brūder EXP7 and EXP8 were on display and are now sold in the United States with full service support. These are some of the most premium and backcountry trailers sold in the world.
VisionX also dropped their new line of motorcycle and vehicle LED lighting. These are some of the most durable LED lights available on the market. I have used their lights on a few continents, including crossing the Silk Road.
Hankook had a few cool machines in their booth, like this Gen 1 Sequoia
