Guest Bio
Bryon Bass, PhD
For Bryon Bass, overland travel is often a vocational necessity rather than a purely adventurous pursuit. While working on his Ph.D. in archaeology in Scotland, Bryon rode a BMW R100GS/PD loaded with research gear to Croatia and back every summer. He taught field surveying and excavation, collaborated on research with the Department of Pre-and Protohistory at the University of Zürich, and worked as a contract archaeologist. After enduring the corporate archaeological trenches, Bass started his own consulting company. Work has led him to Africa, the Middle East, Europe, the South Pacific, and the Americas. In addition to authoring articles on archaeology and photography, Bryon is a private pilot, scuba instructor, and wilderness EMT and serves on a search and rescue team and law enforcement diving unit. @bryonbass
