Overland Classifieds :: 2016 Land Cruiser 79 4.5L V8 Turbo Diesel RHD

With borders eventually opening across the world and overland travel kicking off again, finding a relatively inexpensive overland vehicle that is fully equipped and ready for overland travel is proving to be more challenging than in the past and with shipping costs on the increase, it is seemingly a better idea to fly and drive instead.

If you’re interested in traveling the African continent with a custom built vehicle and trailer which has been outfitted with the latest and all-new accessories, then this Land Cruiser 79 and Wilderness camping trailer might be for you.

The Land Cruiser 79 4.5L V8

The vehicle is a 2016 Land Cruiser 4.5L V8 with just over 52,000 miles on the clock and although the price tag of $105,000 (negotiable) might seem steep, this vehicle has been custom built with all the bells and whistles.

The vehicle has an ARB bumper with a 130 winch and built-in air compressor, two spare tires mounted on a rear double wheel carrier, the suspension has been upgraded with a lift kit and smash and grab window tinting ensures your safety when traveling through dangerous areas. The Cruiser also has an Alucab 5 door canopy with hard-shell roof tent, along with an Alucab 270 degree awning and shower cubicle. Storage is ample with a lockable storage box on the front mounted roofrack. For recovery, a high lift jack and Maxtraxx are available.

Distinguishing features

The rear bed of the double cab Land Cruiser holds a well-designed drawer system complete with:

  • Outdoor kitchen complete with a dual burner stove and two rear mounted gas bottles
  • Drawer system sliders holding a 90-litre National Luna fridge/freezer combo
  • Water storage is more than sufficient, with a 140-litre stainless steel water tank which supplies an outdoor shower heated by an Atlas 5.5-litre geyser.

With the African sun beating down on the 120w solar panel and paired with the Victron inverter and charger and 2 lithium batteries, you can be off-grid for at least a week, depending on your food, fuel and water supplies.

To sweeten the deal, the owner is selling the rig along with a Wilderness 310 camping trailer, which is considered an entry level outdoor trailer. If traveling as a family or with family and/or friends the extra sleeping space will come in handy. The Wilderness camping trailer is equipped with a rooftop tent, add-a-room, 40L National Luna fridge/freezer, jerry cans, drawer system and the necessary accessories.

This Land Cruiser 4.5L V8 and Wilderness trailer is listed for $105,000 highly negotiable and will be available for purchase in Kenya in mid-July 2022.  The current owner will assist with the licensing and registration.  Contact the owner Brett Heiberg on Whatsapp +27 67 0555 261 or via email at brettheiberg@yahoo.com.
