Overland Classifieds :: 2016 EarthCruiser FX

If we’re discussing luxury overland vehicles then there are a few companies that immediately come to mind, EarthRoamer, Global Expedition Vehicles, SLRV Expedition Vehicles, and EarthCruiser. I’ve always championed the rigs produced by EarthCruiser, which prioritize remote all-terrain travel above all else. The huge rolling homes built by the alternatives are grand, but they’re too big for most real-world applications. EarthCruiser has traditionally utilized a Mitsubishi Fuso FG 4×4 chassis and a custom habitation box, providing the comforts of home while still being easy to drive around town and compact enough for most backcountry trails. It’s worth noting that the company recently transitioned to the Isuzu NPR Series Class 4 Platform, as discussed in detail by Graeme Bell. It’s therefore no surprise that EarthCruisers are a popular choice for exploration, with recent examples including this 2018 EXP, 2015 FX, and an EarthCruiser #64. Today’s 2016 FX variant is one of the nicest to date with a long list of premium modifications and an extremely well-equipped habitation box.

From the Seller:

This FX has a multi-purpose mud room/entryway/large bathroom, hot shower, comfy bed, ample kitchen and dinette space, and plenty of indoor and outdoor storage. With all that, this rig still has a compact footprint, making it easy to drive through towns and cities and park anywhere.

Here is a great opportunity to quickly take possession of an amazing pre-owned diesel-powered Fuso 4×4 with the coveted 2-speed transfer case, along with some other unique features, at a fraction of the cost of a comparable new EarthCruiser. My wife and I are the second owners of this EC. We have taken it on many incredible adventures through all four seasons on and off-road, never sacrificing any of the comforts of home. We’ve taken great care of it, serviced it as required, and the whole exterior has been recently detailed. All the maintenance and service records are well documented, and mechanically everything is in excellent working order.”

2016 EarthCruiser FX

EarthCruiser is world-renowned for creating no expense spared expedition vehicles designed for the road less traveled. These premium builds are priced accordingly with the latest Adventure-Ready FX model listed at $585,000. Sure, that’s a huge cost, but the company does state that resale values regularly exceed “80 percent of the purchase price.” The FX is built on the adventure-proven 2007 Mitsubishi Fuso FG chassis, which incorporates a 5-speed manual transmission, and a long-lived 3.0-liter turbodiesel motor. As you’d expect, all-terrain capability is class-leading thanks to 4WD, high and low range, front and rear limited slip differentials, manual locking front hubs, All Terrain Warriors’ parabolic springs, shackles, shocks, and more. These rugged credentials are balanced with a well-equipped cab, with comforts that include:

  • Safe beneath center console
  • Cruise control
  • Air-conditioning
  • Heated leather spring-ride seats
  • Front and rear external cameras with in-cab display

Distinguishing Features

As you’d expect from EarthCruiser the build specifications are extensive with too many premium modifications to list. Here are a few notable features:

  • Three 150-amp-hours Lithionics lithium batteries with four 125-watt Solbian solar panels
  • EarthCruiser skid plates, bull bar, scrub bars, and rear bumper
  • Fiamma F65S power retractable awning
  • Freshwater, 60-gallons
  • Webasto water heater and furnace
  • DC air-conditioner

This 2016 EarthCruiser FX is listed for $295,000 and is currently located in Lakewood, Colorado. Check the full vehicle specifications via the original Expedition Portal forum post here.
