Overland Classifieds :: 2004 Dodge Sprinter T1N 2500

The Mercedes Sprinter has become an international vanlife icon and is widely considered one of the best all-around live-in vehicles money can buy. Furthermore, it dominates the commercial sector and is utilized by businesses worldwide. So, what makes this van so desirable? Key benefits include excellent build quality, durable engines and drivetrains, good economy, generous internal space versus external footprint, impressive payload, comfortable interiors, refined driving experience, and access to parts internationally. In addition, the global success of this van means aftermarket support is excellent, with no shortage of parts, accessories, and services on offer to uprate this platform for further remote exploration. It’s a popular choice on our forum with expedition-equipped rigs, including this 2022 4×4 camper, a 2017 Whitefeather conversion, and a 2007 expedition build. Today’s 2004 Sprinter 2WD showcases a long list of premium modifications, a fully-equipped camper interior, recent mechanical overhaul, and it is priced competitively at $26,000. In addition, the older T1N is considered one of the best in the line-up thanks to its exceptionally reliable engine and overall build quality. If you’d like a better idea of how this platform can be outfitted for the road, check out these inspiring builds from Adventure Van Conversions and Onwards Adventure Vehicles.

From the Seller:

After eight wonderful years of adventures, ‘Big Blue’ is looking for a new owner. I purchased this as a cargo van in 2015 (it used to be a dry cleaning delivery van) and converted it to a camper van to live and work out of while I did documentary work. Built by Hilltop Vans and myself, it’s taken me all over California, to British Columbia, and across the country to Maine and back. This van is turnkey and ready to go adventuring. Bring your bedding, dishes, and cookware, and you’re ready to go!”

2004 Dodge Sprinter T1N 2500

The Sprinter is fitted with a 2.7-liter diesel that produces 154 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque. The 5-cylinder diesel engine won’t win any races but is exceptionally long-lived, with many well-maintained examples exceeding 500,000 miles, and “routinely averages 22 mpg.” In addition, the Sprinter is one of the few vans with access to readily available 4WD conversions and excellent aftermarket support. Hence, although today’s offering is a 2WD, you could easily upgrade it for backcountry travel with parts, accessories, and services from ARB, Van Compass, Iglhaut Allrad, Agile Offroad, and many more. Inside driver comforts include:

  • Captain chairs with swivel bases
  • Bluetooth stereo with Alpine speakers
  • Power steering, locks, and windows
