Moto Guzzi Stelvio ADV Bike—What We Know

Moto Guzzi Stelvio

The International Motorcycle and Accessories Exhibition (EICMA) is the big European motorcycle show that takes place in Milan, Italy, every autumn. It’s often where OEMs, especially the Italian ones, reveal their new bikes for the upcoming model year. In the ADV world, one motorcycle’s return that’s been highly anticipated is the Moto Guzzi Stelvio. Rumors have swirled around a potential reveal of a new Stelvio from the Lombardy-based manufacturer for a while now, and Moto Guzzi gave us a little peek behind the curtain of their new-for-2024 adventure bike ahead of EICMA where it will make its official debut.

Sales of big-displacement adventure-touring motorcycles have surged around the globe in recent years, and MG has been absent from the bonanza without an ADV bike of its own. No longer. With 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels and sharing its shaft drive and overall structure with the V100 Mandello, the Stelvio appears to be aimed at a more on-road than off-road mission. The current Moto Guzzi 1,042-cc liquid-cooled V-twin will reportedly produce 115 horsepower and 85 pound-feet of torque, all supported by an exhaustive technology package. From the 5-inch TFT display, riders will be able to select from 5 customizable riding modes and will benefit from cornering ABS and traction control, as well as the “Piaggio Fast Forward Rider Assistance Solution” (PFF) as an option. The PFF platform employs “4D radar imaging” to support advanced safety features like blind spot monitoring, collision detection, and adaptive cruise control.

Adjustable suspension front and rear, as well as tubeless spoked wheels, keep the bike planted on tarmac-focused rubber. But in a nod to more ambitious explorers, the Stelvio is equipped with a skid plate, hand guards, and a 21-liter fuel tank for a purported 250 miles of range. Other goodies, like an adjustable windshield and an optional quick shifter, along with the expected raft of touring and adventure accessories, will be available as well. It’s been about 15 years since a brand-new Moto Guzzi adventure-touring bike has turned a wheel on public roads, and the Stelvio should slot in logically alongside the smaller, air-cooled V85TT Adventure in their lineup. Pricing and exact availability have yet to be announced.
