GMC Announces Their AT4x Factory AEV Overland Package

There are few companies that inspire thoughts of innovation and quality like American Expedition Vehicles (AEV). This certainly fueled our excitement to see an AEV performance package offered from the factory on a GMC full-size production truck. This is the first OEM production-line installed AEV overland system available on any full-size truck, and comes complete with AEV stamped steel front and rear bumpers, boron skid plates, 18-inch Salta wheels. This builds upon the class-leading capability of the Sierra AT4x (and ZR2 Silverado) and adds much-needed trail protection and winch-ready capability.

The AT4x AEV Edition Package Includes:

  1. Five boron hot-stamped steel skid plates (front, steering gear, transfer case, fuel tank, and rear differential)
  2. AEV stamped steel front and rear bumpers with GVWR+ recovery points and winch-ready front bumper.
  3. 18″ Black AEV Salta wheels with recessed valve protection
  4. 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires
  5. Revised front grille and fascia to accommodate the steel bumper
  6. full-length rocker protection

This is not a typical appearance package, but a front to back enhancement to the already impressive AT4x pedigree. The AT4x is already delivered with front and rear locking differentials, multimatic suspension, and a two-inch lift over stock. With the front and rear AEV bumpers, now this trail-capable full-size has the protection necessary to venture further into the backcountry. These are confidence-inspiring attributes that overland travelers expect from the vehicle they purchase, and GMC is now offering this package for the 2023 model year.

Key Considerations for the AEV AT4x Edition:

  1. Front bumper is 3 millimeter HD steel that is e-coated and powder coated for long life
  2. Winch capable front bumper
  3. Front approach angle improves from 27 degrees to nearly 33 degrees
  4. Ground clearance improves to 11.2 from 10.8 inches
  5. Payload comes in at 1,290 pounds even with all of the modifications and added protection
  6. Boron steel skiplates are 3.5 times stronger than traditional skid plates, while also being thinner and lighter
