Four Wheel Campers Launches The CampOut Modular Pop-Up Truck Camper Series

Four Wheel Campers, an innovator for over 50 years in the truck camper industry, has announced the launch of CampOut, a modular pop-up truck camper series designed to meet a wide array of travel needs. The modular CampOut is not only attractive and practical but also, thankfully, surprisingly affordable. The unveiling took place on February 5, 2025, in Sacramento, California, where the company highlighted the adaptability and versatility of its newest product line. CampOut is built on a framework that allows campers to install, remove, or upgrade modules over time, making it a flexible option for both frequent travelers and newcomers to overlanding.

Available for both mid and full-size trucks, the CampOut series emerges as the latest example of the company’s aim to merge durability with a user-friendly design, and we love the duality of well-thought-out indoor and outdoor living concepts. This new addition to the Four Wheel Campers lineup seeks to address the fact that adventurers often require different configurations, depending on where they plan to travel or what activities they expect to pursue.

CampOut features modules that can be purchased at the outset or added later, either as a do-it-yourself project or through professional assistance at a local dealership. Each module is constructed with resilient materials that balance strength with a relatively low overall weight. The base modules include a Power Module and a Utility Module, both of which are standard, while optional modules such as water, fridge, and seating can be selected to complete the desired layout.

“Build Your Way” is the philosophy behind CampOut’s design, allowing owners to personalize the interior as they see fit. Modules feature modern bamboo countertops, slotted aluminum extrusions, polypropylene honeycomb panels, and HDPE doors fitted with compression latches. The interior can be expanded or simplified based on user preference, allowing for easy customization. Some may choose to include a Dometic-based Water Module complete with a built-in sink, pump, and jugs for fresh and gray water, while others might opt for a tall storage compartment instead. The Fridge Module can house a removable Dometic CFX chest refrigerator or be replaced by lockable storage for those who prefer to pack their own cooler.

CEO and board member of Four Wheel Campers, Larry Baab, stated,

“With the CampOut series, we’re giving outdoor enthusiasts the freedom to create a camper that grows with them, combining modular innovation with adaptability for any journey.”

The CampOut’s versatility extends beyond its interior. Its exterior features are aimed at maximizing functionality and convenience. The camper includes multiple vertical rows of L-track and two MOLLE panels for securing gear, providing various options for stowing items safely and efficiently. A DC port is integrated for Starlink Mini, offering potential off-grid connectivity while minimizing power consumption. The exterior power panel supplies various outlets, and downlights are installed to improve visibility when setting up camp after dark. These elements are designed to accommodate the practical demands of overlanding in a range of environments.

In terms of compatibility, CampOut covers the majority of truck beds currently on the market. Models are available for mid-size pickups with five-foot and six-foot beds and full-size trucks featuring five-foot, six-foot, and eight-foot beds. The lightest configuration weighs around 860 pounds for the five-foot mid-size models, while the heavier eight-foot full-size version comes in at about 1,030 pounds. This keeps the campers relatively manageable for those concerned about overall weight and fuel efficiency.

Prospective buyers can choose to get a fully equipped CampOut at the time of purchase, opt to have modules delivered flat-packed for self-assembly or rely on local dealers for professional support. Pricing begins at $25,995 for five-foot and six-foot truck models and $26,995 for eight-foot truck models.
