Father’s Day Podcast :: Interviewing Larry Brady

larry brady podcast interview

On this Father’s Day, we celebrate all of the dads. We are grateful to those with us and honor those who were gone too soon. Dads have an important job, providing protection, love, support, training, and much more. It is a hard job, and it is supposed to be, as honoring those responsibilities helps boy become men, and if they are fortunate- they become fathers, too. For this Father’s Day, I am blessed with honoring my dad, Larry Brady. He did the hard work and has been there for my sister Shannon and me, without exception, for the entirety of our lives. He served in the US Military in the Vietnam War, became a sportsman, and showed me how to be an outdoorsman while also respecting the wild places we interact with. He also became a pilot, horseman, Tournament of Roses rider, and actor in numerous TV shows and movies. He played a cowboy, outlaw, and even Wyatt and Virgil Earp. My dad worked tirelessly to provide for our family, yet somehow managed to be cheering from the sidelines during my football games. I don’t know how he did all of it, but I am grateful that he found the courage to be the father I love and admire. I hope you all enjoy my chance to interview my dad for the Overland Journal Podcast, and I encourage you to do the same with your family.

– Scott Brady

My mom and dad are cooler than I ever will be. He became a pilot and some of my earliest memories were in his Cessna 172 and 182. We lost my mom in 2022 to Alzheimers. They met at 19 years old and were married 54 years. They modeled what a loving marriage looks like.

In 2013, my dad and I crossed a big chunk of Australia together in the E7 Land Cruisers

I have been on many adventures with me dad. And he has always left-foot braked! (go dad)

A set photo from one of the many History Channel (and other) shows my dad was in front of the camera. In 2014, we rode a big chunk of the Overland Road together on horseback.

My mom and dad loved horses and the old west.

The first beer I ever had with my dad was in Australia. Seems fitting.
