Expedition Portal’s Community Forum Surpasses 100,000 Members!

Created in 2005 by Scott Brady, CEO of Overland International and Publisher of Overland Journal, Expedition Portal began as an online forum for people interested in vehicle-supported adventure travel. The site has doubled in size every year since, and is now the world’s largest digital platform of information related to overland travel and worldwide exploration.

The Expedition Portal home page was completely redesigned in 2014, and has the highest Alexa ranking in the category.

In addition to the 100,000+ member forum with 54 subject sections, Expedition Portal provides six vertical categories of news, product reviews, educational papers and feature stories. The site was redesigned in May of 2014, including the development of dedicated home pages for 4-Wheel Drive, Camper & Trailer, Adventure Motorcycle, Gear, Human Powered and Adventure Stories. “After several years of watching our audience and editorial content grow, we decided to provide vertical interest category home pages as a way to provide our readers and members with online destinations for more in-depth coverage of their favorite topics.” said Scott Brady.

Expedition Portal content spans 4WD, Adventure Motorcycle, Campers, Trailers, and Bikepacking.

Expedition Portal averages 35,000 unique users per day and over 100,000 registered active forum members. The site’s audience is primarily college-educated males, 25-54, with an annual income over $120,000. Average monthly traffic includes 5 million views, an average of 7 pages visited and over 6 minutes spent on the site. Brian McVickers, head of business development, commented “With our dedicated editorial staff and contributors from all over the world, we feel fortunate to cultivate genuine content while also providing our partners with a qualified and responsive audience. We are the only website in the category that offers non-invasive, full-page display advertising like you would see in a print magazine, and we are one of the few forums that allows supporting sponsors to interact directly with the audience.” Overland International is not only excited to reach this new milestone, but is grateful to the 100,000 fellow adventurers that made it possible.
