I have been searching Facebook Marketplace over the last few months, casually looking for a two-door Jeep that can take us on all those trails I long to explore. One thing I have noticed is that while there are many Jeep JLs available, very few are kitted for overland travel. These new Front Runner products instantly boost the practicality and rugged appeal of a well-loved JL, while also adding value. On a brand-new overlanding vehicle, they offer an immediate upgrade in both function and style.

The 3/4-length format provides ample platform space while maintaining access to the JL’s Freedom Panels, allowing drivers to remove the factory roof panels without needing to uninstall the rack.
This new system is compatible with more than 55 existing Front Runner accessories, allowing for customization of the rack to suit a wide range of applications, from long-distance expeditions to everyday storage needs. Alongside the roof rack, Dometic unveiled five new storage and mounting products designed to enhance the Jeep JL’s organization and accessibility. These include a no-drill Freedom MOLLE panel, side-mounted MOLLE panels, an exterior side ladder for roof access, A-Pillar light mounts, and a rear cargo shelf designed better to manage storage space inside the vehicle’s rear cabin. Each accessory integrates cleanly with the Jeep JL’s design without requiring major modifications.
One of the most notable aspects of these upgrades is their compatibility with the vehicle’s modular design. Dometic’s engineers emphasize user-friendly installation, and all components are designed to work in harmony with existing features. The result is a system that increases capacity without diminishing usability—an important consideration for weekend adventurers and daily drivers alike.
