Eura Mobil Launches the Rugged Xtura Camper

The award-winning German motorhome manufacturer Eura Mobil has unveiled the Xtura, a new Class C motorhome built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4×4 platform engineered for off-grid exploration in all seasons. This latest offering reflects Eura Mobil’s longstanding reputation for durable construction, cold-weather performance, and thoughtful design. It has introduced several upgrades aimed specifically at overlanders and remote travelers, but there is a catch.

The Eura Mobil Xtura is built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter AWD chassis, and its reliance on ultra-low sulfur diesel, sensitive electronics, and limited parts availability may pose challenges in parts of the Majority World where fuel quality and mechanical support can be inconsistent. While highly capable in many environments, the Xtura may not be the ideal choice for extended remote travel in regions with limited infrastructure. So, if you plan to explore Scandinavia, Spain, and everything in between, the Xtura is built for you. If you plan to head down to Senegal to soak up the sun, you might have to look for a more suitable engine or plan to carry your fuel and AdBlue (impossible). With the geographical limitations in mind, let’s take a closer look at the Xtura.

At 6.88 meters in length, the Xtura remains relatively compact for a Class C RV, yet offers a spacious and functional interior. It sits high on its all-wheel-drive Sprinter chassis, powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine producing approximately 190 horsepower. This drivetrain is paired with a smooth automatic transmission. It is supported by off-road features like underbody protection and all-terrain tires, making it capable of handling rugged terrain and winter conditions with equal confidence.

The Xtura was developed with long-term autonomy in mind. It comes standard with a 330 amp-hour lithium battery system and two 120-watt solar panels mounted on a walkable roof. These components supply power to various energy-intensive systems, including interior heating, LED lighting, and essential appliances. The roof also features an integrated ladder and rail system for securing cargo or additional gear.

Inside, the layout favors comfort and practical use of space. Twin single beds at the rear offer sleeping accommodations for two, while a convertible dinette provides optional sleeping for a third person, but there is no secure seating for daily driving for that third person. The kitchen is centrally located, featuring a gas cooktop, sink, and compact refrigerator. The wet bath is positioned on the side, combining a shower, sink, and toilet into a self-contained unit. Storage has been maximized throughout, with overhead lockers, a garage compartment beneath the beds, and integrated cabinetry designed to endure long-distance travel.

Its year-round suitability sets the Xtura apart from more conventional Class C offerings. It comes equipped with a heated floor, winterized water system, and high-grade insulation throughout the cabin, as one might expect from a European camper. This makes the unit viable for cold-climate touring, a feature often overlooked in motorhomes designed primarily for summer travel. The freshwater tank holds 145 liters and is fully insulated, while the greywater tank is similarly protected and heated.

Exterior lighting is another highlight, with a factory-fitted 21,000-lumen LED lighting system that includes a cab-mounted light bar and utility lighting around the perimeter. This setup improves safety and usability when setting up camp in dark or isolated locations.

The Xtura is manufactured entirely in Germany and reflects the design sensibilities Eura Mobil has developed over decades of building motorhomes for European markets. Its styling is modern and functional, with minimal overhangs and aerodynamic bodywork designed to reduce wind resistance. Despite its compact profile, the gross vehicle weight rating is 4,100 kilograms, with a 2,000-kilogram towing capacity, allowing it to tow small trailers or carry additional equipment without compromise.

Currently, the Xtura is unavailable through a dedicated dealership network in North America, and Eura Mobil has not announced plans to enter the US market. Pricing in Europe starts at around €160,000, which converts to approximately $175,000 at current exchange rates.
