The Tacoma remains the mid-size pickup to beat; recent offerings include this 2010 TRD Off Road, 2020 TRD Pro w/ Vagabond Drifter, and 2021 TRD Off Road w/ Alu-Cab Canopy camper. Whether you’re looking for a comfortable daily, a commercial workhorse, weekend explorer, or indeed an around-the-world travel rig, the Tacoma is a great fit. From the factory, it’s well suited to adventure, but with almost unparalleled aftermarket support, owners can completely reinvent this truck for their objectives. Subsequently, there’s no shortage of inspiring builds online from the likes of Pacific Roamer, Alpine Tactics, and Total Chaos Fabrication. Executive Publisher Scott Brady states, “The Toyota Tacoma is the North American version of the famed Hilux, which has served farmers, families, and fighters around the world for nearly four decades. The Tacoma is designed for the US consumer and built within our borders … and is a serious truck designed to offer class-leading reliability and in the TRD/TX Pro variant, class-leading 4WD performance.” Cue today’s 2006 Toyota Tacoma SR5 TRD Off Road (185,000 miles), which showcases premium modifications and an ARE CX topper. From the Seller:
“Here’s a fantastic turn-key off-road truck. It has done the Mojave Desert Road twice and the Alpine Loop in Colorado, among many other fun trails. It has never left me stranded. I had all the accessories added since owning the vehicle in 2016. The frame was swapped in 2018 due to a Toyota recall, so its bones are fantastic. It caught on fire behind the dash, damaging the wiring, windshield, headliner over the area, and roof console. I repaired all the functional damages with only cosmetic issues left, and I never added back a new roof console. The truck has a clean title, not salvaged. If you’re looking for a great off-road rig at a bargain price, look no further.”
