The 4Runner is a firm favorite on the forum, with recent builds including this 2000 Limited, a 2003 Sport, and a 2006. In short, it’s one of the best 4WDs to get out there and explore, which is why it was featured in Overland Journal’s recent Top Ten New Overland SUVs. The fourth gen is especially notable since it was the first iteration available with the exceptionally long-lived 4.7- liter V8 (used in various Toyota and Lexus vehicles). This legendary power plant ensured the 4Runner had plenty of grunt to match its impressive capability and payload. It was the first car loaned to Expedition Portal and was a part of the inspiration for the Overland Journal. Cue today’s 2007 Toyota 4Runner Sport (172,500 miles), which showcases premium aftermarket upgrades and has undergone heaps of recent maintenance. The fourth gen remains a desirable choice for travel, with inspiring builds from the likes of Garrett Logan, Peach State Overland, and Peak Off Road. If you’d like to learn more about traveling in a fourth-gen 4Runner then read Chris Cordes’ features on stunning builds from Dustin Miller and La Aduana.
From the Seller:
“This vehicle is currently located in Moreno Valley, California. It will not pass smog restrictions despite having fairly new catalytic converters because they were installed in Arizona and don’t pass California air restrictions. It can be registered in any state except California. This has been an Arizona 4Runner most of its life followed by some time in California. As a result, the paint has some UV damage in spots. It has the rare 4.7 liter V8 and has undergone a bunch of service work. This includes a new timing belt, idlers and tensioners, serpentine belt, water pump, thermostat, gaskets, and spark plugs. In addition, the fuel injectors have been cleaned, valve clearances adjusted, MAF and throttle body cleaned, oil and coolant changed, and it had new valve gaskets at 151,774 miles.”
