I love bargain rigs, with recent examples including a $7,000 1992 Toyota 4Runner SR5, $9,000 1994 Mitsubishi Montero, and $9,000 2004 Ram 2500 with a Leer camper. However, at just $6,000, today’s one-owner 2011 Land Rover LR4 (184,300 miles) has to be one of the best value rigs we’ve featured, period. This luxury all-terrain vehicle would’ve cost the best part of $70,000 new, and it’s not hard to see why. It incorporates a powerful V8 motor, lavish interior luxury, and desirable backcountry attributes. It was the platform of choice for Norwegian adventurer, pro photographer, and Overland Journal contributor Kasper Hoglund, and regularly transported him and his gear thousands of miles around Scandinavia. I’m fortunate to call Kasper a friend, and he’s regularly discussed his love for the LR4, which served as his rolling home for years through the arctic winters and never left him stranded (check out his YouTube channel here). If you’d like a better idea of how this platform can be upfitted for travel, check out builds from the Loam Ranger, MainLine Overland, and Hest.
From the Seller:
“I love this vehicle; it has been a joy to own, fun to take off-road (limited use in all honesty), and I have many fond memories of all the ‘mini-adventures’ we have done with this truck. It has not been on a true overland adventure—but it could. I would love to take it all the way south myself, but it’s not the right time in life for that.”
