Ford F-250

When I first transitioned to life on the road, a big motivation was to escape rent and save money for experiences. However, in my excitement, I bought a 40-year-old Vanagon Syncro, which has cost me more than Buckingham Palace to run and maintain over the past decade. If you’re looking to travel, choosing a platform with a reputation for build quality and reliability pays. With this in mind, the F-250 is a great choice, especially when fitted with the legendary “million-mile” 7.3-liter Power Stroke motor. Subsequently, it’s a desirable choice on the forum. Recent examples include this 1997 with an Outfitter Caribou camper, 2002 with a Bowens custom flatbed and Aterra XL camper, and 2020 with a Northstar Liberty camper. Cue today’s 2000 Ford F-250 (169,000 miles), showcasing a plethora of premium upgrades and topped with a well-equipped Snugtop Outback camper shell. At just $15,800, this package represents impressive value and would serve as the ideal budget-friendly option for hitting the road and exploring. If you’d like a better idea of how this truck can be outfitted for travel, check out builds from EC Offroad, TY Fenwick, and The Fast Lane Truck. Alternatively, deep dive Expedition Portal’s features on F-250 builds from Jon Burtt and Basil Lynch.

From the Seller:

We’re selling our complete overlanding setup (including the truck and gear) while we build a new rig. We built this F-250 to load up a couple weeks’ worth of gear and burrow deep into the toolies and stay there until the beer runs out. Buy this truck, fill the fridge, and you’re ready to go camping. The truck is set up [with] a very comfortable mattress in the back; we’ve always preferred this setup to RTT [since there is] faster camp setup/teardown, no drying out the RTT after a rainy trip, and wind is no big deal.
