Ford’s F-Series trucks remain the best-selling full-size lineup in the US by a considerable margin despite fierce competition in the segment. The F-150 is a desirable choice for overlanding with no shortage of inspiration on our forum, with recent adventure-ready builds including this 2022 Tremor, a 2019 with a FWC Hawk, and a 2018 Raptor. In many ways, full-size trucks have always been the obvious choice for overland travel due to their generous payload, towing capacity, interior comfort, and general versatility. However, in the past, choosing these larger platforms came at a price, literally, as a result of woefully uneconomical engines. In more recent years, manufacturers have made huge strides in bridging the gap between mid- and full-size truck running costs, and subsequently, today’s Ford F-150 will return 25 mpg combined, thanks to its PowerBoost hybrid motor. That’s impressive when you consider the class-leading mid-size 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD returns just 21 mpg combined and is significantly less powerful. Today’s super low-mileage (6,485 miles) 2023 Ford F-150 FX4 is an excellent opportunity to purchase an almost-new truck with over $20,000 of optional extras from the factory. In addition, it’s topped with a paint-matched AT Overland Equipment Summit, also worth more than $20,000. This build could be enjoyed as is or would make the perfect base for a fully equipped four-season rolling home.
From the Seller:
“I have owned F-150s for years, but never a hybrid. I built this rig because the F-150 PowerBoost gets really good gas mileage and has a 7.2-kilowatt generator onboard, which can power anything from a campsite to an entire condo. This was also intended to be my daily driver, so sleeker lines and less bulk were important, and I did a ton of research on toppers and slide-ins. The AT Summit was by far the best combo of being both lightweight and with great features, including Arctic Tern windows, a MaxxFan, interior lighting, and USB/12V power. I also loved that the entire truck bed is available to stand up in and move around with the wedge popped up, thanks to the ingenious design of the bed resting against the top when not in use. And even when the bed is down, there’s still plenty of room to stand and move around.”
