Overland Classifieds :: 2019 Ford F-150 w/ 2020 FWC Hawk Combo

It’s safe to say that we associate 4WD with overlanding, and while there can be no denying the benefits, it’s generally a bonus rather than a necessity. I think most of us have a rose-tinted Camel Trophy-esque view of vehicle travel, which in our minds, entails battling through thick jungle, fording raging rivers, navigating swamps, deserts, and remote mountain ranges. In reality, most paved, gravel, and dirt roads around the world are shared by local traffic that will overtake your expedition-equipped Land Cruiser in a 796-cc Daewoo Matiz on 14-inch road tires. I mean, heck, Ashley Giordano just interviewed Juvena Huang on Traveling 44,000 kilometers on a Vespa! Hence, while I appreciate that today’s 2WD (RWD) F-150 won’t be for everyone, it’s still a valid adventure travel rig, especially considering this particular offering is specced with a locking rear differential. Furthermore, this well-maintained, one-owner example has covered just 24,800 miles, enjoys a Ford warranty until July 2023, and comes with a well-equipped Four Wheel Campers’ Hawk camper.

From the Seller:

This truck and camper combo has been awesome to us. We’re hoping to find someone to enjoy it as much as we have. It will be available after August 20th (we have one last trip to take).”

2019 Ford F-150 XL

The F-150 is fitted with a 5.0-liter V8 that produces 395 horsepower, 400 pound-feet of torque, and returns 17/23 mpg (city/highway). A powerful albeit thirsty motor is matched with a well-equipped interior, with driver comforts that include cruise control, a rearview camera, 4.2-inch infotainment system with navigation, climate control, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and more. This 2WD (RWD) model is not the ideal option for overlanding purposes (consider the FX4 4WD variant for maximum all-terrain capability), but with rugged Bridgestone A/T tires and a rear locking differential, it’s still plenty capable in most traveling scenarios.
