2006 Lexus GX470 :: Classifieds

GX470

The Lexus GX470 is a highly regarded platform for overlanding and a popular choice amongst our readers, with recent offerings including this 2004, a 2006, and a 2008. It’s also a favorite with the Overland Collective team and was subsequently chosen as an Expedition Portal Project Vehicle, and later showcased on our YouTube channel. The GX470 is a vehicle that seemingly excels in all scenarios and demonstrates that backcountry durability and plush interior luxury need not exist in a vacuum. This venerable 4WD is underpinned by the Toyota Prado (J-Series platform), which is a body-on-frame architecture relied on by frontline agencies internationally and built to withstand daily punishment in rugged environments. If you’d like a better idea of how this chassis can be uprated for exploration then check out builds from Lexus Offroad Adventures, Adventure Rig, and Outlandish Overland. Cue today’s 2006 Lexus GX470, which has covered 262,062 miles and showcases a plethora of desirable upgrades. At $7,500 OBO this is not just the cheapest GX we’ve featured but one of the best value vehicles we’ve listed period and would be a fantastic wallet friendly rig for the summer season.

From the Seller:

Stock height overland rig. Older, but capable and reliable. The timing belt, water pump, radiator, and brake pads have been replaced since 2020. I have used and enjoyed this truck, but have taken good care of it. The original owner had it serviced at a local dealership. I have given it new air and cabin filters annually, plus synthetic oil and a quality oil filter every 5,000 miles. I have put roughly 40,000 miles on it and tackled some of the most challenging trails and obstacles I’ve ever come across. This tire size is a little narrow for running sand without airing down, but otherwise this rig has blown me away. It’s still one of the most comfortable vehicles I’ve ever driven.”
