Range Rover P38

There’s just something magical about an old Range Rover, as discussed by Executive Publisher Scott Brady in The Range Rover Classic :: An Iconic Alternative for the Overlander. These veteran rigs seamlessly blend timeless styling with legendary capability and plush interior luxury. Sure, if you buy from the dealership, they depreciate quicker than setting cash on fire, but this makes them a great value on the used market. Today’s 2001 P38 (237,930 miles) boasts a plethora of aftermarket modifications and has been meticulously maintained (reference the original listing for detailed servicing information). The P38 is quite a rarity, even when compared to the Classic, which makes this offering a steal at just $8,500 (especially when you consider this 1999 P38 HSE was previously listed on the forum for $22,000). A quick search reveals that the P38 has something of a cult following online, with inspiring builds from KeithyW, 12V Diaries, and Overlandr Adventure. If you’re looking for an affordable classic 4WD with legitimate backcountry chops for the upcoming season, then look no further.

From the Seller:

“A great, well-maintained, and running truck with lots of documentation. I’ve owned it for over three years and am only selling because I need something with more than five seats (I have three kids). The previous owner was a licensed JLR tech and did a ton of maintenance, including the preventive replacement of the head gaskets. There are a few cosmetic issues, such as a sagging headliner, paint scratches, etc., but it runs and drives great without any issues, and was just smogged. I have service records from new with recent items including an oil change, new tires (5), a 2-month-old battery, and spark plugs. Heads were replaced in 2019, the transmission and T-case removed and serviced in 2018 (new timing chains were installed in the T-case), a Bosch fuel pump in 2022, and door handles inside/out were replaced in 2019. It had a tune-up six months ago with new coil packs, plugs, and wires.”
