At Overland International, we are grateful to have experienced growth during the challenges of 2020. As a result, we are expanding our team with two new positions.

The Director of Operations is a functional and technical role that will focus on solving (in cooperation with our CTO) operational needs through technology solutions. The Senior Editor, 4WD role will require both creative (writing and photography) and technical field experience.

SENIOR EDITOR, 4WD

Position Location: Prescott, AZ, and Remote Work

Essential Qualifications:
Experience capturing high-quality images of vehicles and equipment
Experience with technical 4WD systems, modifications, and accessories
Experience with vehicle dynamics, tractive performance, and limit handling
Experience with domestic and international overland travel
Experience with equipment testing, repeatability, and managing cognitive bias
Comprehensive understanding of editorial integrity and journalistic standards

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with WordPress
Experience with field maintenance and basic mechanical work
Experience with recovery equipment and theory
Experience in growing media network effects
Experience with video capture, both behind and in front of the camera
Ability to navigate ambiguity, support multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fluid environment
Ability to support creative teams and a distributed creative workforce

About the Job:
The Senior Editor is an essential content role, serving the most popular content vertical category and an audience size of millions. The position requires demonstrable quality in both image capture and the written word.

Daily responsibilities include posting 4WD vehicle or accessory news, field tests of equipment, and vehicle evaluations. Additional content includes buyer’s guides, vehicle classifieds, adventure stories, best of breed comparisons, and comprehensive main gear reviews. Content outlets will include expeditionportal.com, social media, video, podcast, and in the premium print publication of Overland Journal. Imagery is a critical attribute of the job, which includes image capture of vehicles, equipment, and travel subjects in the studio and in the field. The position works closely with the Editor and Publisher.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Experience with integrated project management systems (ASANA)
Experience with QuickBooks Online and financial systems integration
Experience with ECommerce (BigCommerce), Shipping (Shipstation)
Experience solving problems using robust technology solutions and integrations

Experience managing ECommerce merchandise ordering and fulfillment
Experience providing best-in-class customer service
Experience with facilities management and equipment organization

About the Job:
The Director of Operations for Overland International is an essential role with both functional and executive responsibilities. As a decades-old organization, Overland International is focused on system efficiency, robust technology solutions, and the execution of long-standing content strategies.

Daily activities will include supporting our subscribers and customers, performing accounting functions, and managing daily operations in our Prescott facility. Irregular activities will include managing and implementing technology solutions, maintaining technology integrations and interfaces, managing our merchandising strategies, and managing our event booth and service teams. Our systems are primarily cloud based, accessed via PC/MAC/Mobile. The high degree of variability in the responsibilities of this position requires excellent time management and organizational skills. The position will operate autonomously, with limited direct oversight from the CTO, CFO, and CEO. Operational effectiveness is monitored primarily via system reporting tools, and twice monthly executive reviews.
