We first chatted to Richard Villacres back in 2018 when he was about to embark on his journey across the USA and abroad, gifting portraits to people living on the margins of society, branding his journey as JackDaw.Love.
Richard was a full-time photographer working for Central Washington University until he purchased, Hella, his 1954 Dodge M152 command truck from Canada, which was utilised in the Canadian Armed Forces back in the 1950s.
Richard revived and converted, Hella into a tiny home on wheels in order to offer free portrait photography for people living in shelters. He believes that his photography will help people in creating professional curriculum vitae’s or LinkedIn profiles which will assist them in securing an offer of employment. He therefore mostly camps in urban cities as he is serving the local communities and shelters within the city.
Richard is currently in his third year of traveling and is continuing his project whilst touring Baja, Mexico.
