New Jersey Outdoor Adventures recently interviewed Josh Sheldon, an engineer, overlander, and adventurist, who bought a 2005 Chevy C4500 ambulance with a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine and built this ambulance camper during the COVID lockdown in a period of six months.
Josh has managed to design and essentially create a compact New York apartment on wheels. We are in love with the fact that he has repurposed Tesla batteries to run his open-sourced home assistant system (which is extensive) that he can access remotely. Wait till you see how he has managed to design a spacious shower that holds a storage drawer, a compostable toilet, and a washer/dryer. I must admit, Josh’s ambulance conversion is one of the best I have ever seen. Now, if only I had the mental capacity to do the same to our Land Rover camper, my life would be complete.
