Australia is heaven to an overlander, with thousands of rough gravel tracks in vast open spaces that can get even the most experienced off-roader sweating under the collar.
Cape York, a large peninsula in the most northern point of Australia, is a popular destination for many off-roaders and four-wheel drive enthusiasts. Cape York has an abundance of unspoiled wilderness with savannahs, tropical rainforests, and the infamous Frenchmans Track. This track is usually completed in the dry season, when both the Wenlock and Pascoe croc-infested rivers are at their lowest, making it a relatively easy trail (if experienced), but of course, the team at 4WD 24-7 would be tackling the track when the rivers are almost bursting at their banks.
Driving a range of vehicles from new Toyota Land Cruisers, old farm Cruisers, and an Isuzu D-Max to a Nissan Patrol along with a Maverick camping trailer, all the vehicles manage to complete the track with all but one vehicle going on its own steam.
With lots of fun, laughter, and camaraderie between the guys, I’m looking forward to enjoying their next adventure.
