Anyone that knows us has a clear understanding of why we are biased when it comes to Land Rover. We have, after all, been living out of a Defender 130 for the past decade, and even with some of its nonsensical design features, we still love the brand. I am a little hesitant to believe that the new Land Rover Defender could live up to the original Defender. To me, the Defender 90 was always the fun little dune-bashing sibling to the grander 130. A great weekend toy to take to the beach, the forest, or the mountains, and then on weekdays, it resumes the duty of the city crawler. But, with the all-new V8 engine compacted into that tiny but robust body, it might just be the next contender to the Jeep Wrangler, Sukuzi Jimny, or even the Mercedes GWagon.
