Touratech-USA Presents: Riding Solo AZ to BC

Touratech-USA Announces a New Sterling Noren Film

Grab some popcorn, get comfortable, and enjoy the ride. Sterling Noren is about to take you to Canada as no one else has.

The noted filmmaker and adventure traveler has teamed with Touratech-USA on another off-pavement motorcycle travel film. Riding Solo AZ to BC follows the 2020 release of Noren’s Riding Solo, a 25-part series documenting his 6,000-mile Western US ride, reviewed here by Heather Lea.

Someone to Know

Sterling Noren may not be a household name, but it’s the rare adventure rider who hasn’t heard of the Backcountry Discovery Routes. He is a founding member of the BDR team and has made the organization’s films since 2010. Noren has also created films for Helge Pederson’s GlobeRiders and BMW. Overland Journal talked with him about his work on their Podcast #49.

Sterling Noren, A Man of Vision

Riding Solo AZ to BC chronicles Noren’s 8000-mile journey from his home in Bisbee, Arizona, to British Columbia and back. His eye for recording outstanding scenery in the signature style he showcases in the BDR films brings the viewer right into the ride. But Noren gives us more than just riding and scenery, he also teaches along the way. By relating everything from how he makes great cinema to his motorcycle packing techniques and cooking tips, Noren embraces the feeling of a journey as well as the riding.

One Man, Many Talents

During his 53 days on the road for this film, Sterling Noren photographed his journey as few riders can. He rides, he films, he narrates, and he does it all by himself. And with Touratech-USA as the title supporter for the Riding Solo film series, he takes us along with him. Find this series and many more of Noren’s videos at the Motorcycle Travel Channel. New episodes of Riding Solo AZ to BC will post there each Sunday and Wednesday through May.

Arden’s first motorcycle was a Yamaha Enduro, obtained while in high school. It set the stage for decades of off-pavement exploration on dual-sports and adventure bikes. Camping in the middle of nowhere became his favorite pursuit. As a former whitewater river guide and National Park Service seasonal employee, Arden believes in wilderness, wildlife, and being kind to the earth. A self-taught writer who barely passed English classes, he has contributed adventure stories and tested motorcycles and accessories for Rider Magazine and other outlets for nearly 30 years. In that time, he’s worn out two KLR 650s and is currently following the road to the middle of nowhere on his Ténéré 700 and an aging but reliable DR-Z 400S.
