The Kimberley Kampers Kube is Perfect for a Wandering Couple

In March 2020, we announced that the Australian-made Kimberley Kampers would be available in the US. Since then, the Kimberley Kampers team has continued to innovate. The latest creation, the Kube, is a modern reinterpretation of the classic teardrop trailer and stands out with its robust construction, luxurious amenities, cutting-edge technology, and sleek lines. This is a very good-looking trailer. Kimberley Kampers are designed and built in Kimberley, North West Australia, a region famous for its waterfalls, ancient Aboriginal rock art, incredible wildlife, freshwater swimming holes, and white sandy beaches, where overland travel is a way of life.

The Kube’s attractive design merges the traditional teardrop shape with a distinctive cube-like upper body featuring a tapered lower body and a smoothly arched front end. This unique combination makes the Kube visually striking on the road and enhances its aerodynamics and space efficiency. At 17 feet in length, it’s slightly longer than typical teardrop trailers, which allows for a more spacious interior without compromising its compact, easy-to-tow profile.

Constructed with durability in mind, the Kube boasts a molded thermoplastic-composite body shell atop a hot-dipped galvanized steel chassis. Its underpinnings include 16-inch steel wheels attached to a suspension system comprising trailing arms with custom air springs and off-road “racing” mono-tube shocks designed to tackle rugged terrains.

The interior features a king-size bed surrounded by roof-lined storage and panoramic windows, offering 270-degree views of the outdoors, with built-in shades for privacy and light control. Unlike earlier models, the Kube does not feature a pop-up roof. An overhead skylight above the bed’s foot illuminates the front console of the cabin, which is complete with storage cubbies, a mini-bar, and an 85-liter upright fridge/freezer. The thoughtful design, including two entrance doors (ventilation is definitely not lacking), ensures easy access to essentials, whether from the bed or the fully equipped, slide-out external kitchen. Externally, the trailer tongue offers a large storage box, and storage for gas and jerry cans, and an awning offers shade while relaxing or cooking.

The Kimberley Kampers’ Kube state-of-the-art features include a comprehensive suite of smart technologies, including the Smart Touch Plus system with a Gorilla Glass high-definition display for monitoring various vehicle parameters and the WITI wireless electrical plug system, offering added protection with GPS tracking and sensor alarms. The Kube also offers advanced water management options, such as twin tanks with a single filler. The innovative visi-flow special option allows users to bypass the water tanks and pump directly from any water source. The hot water system, accessible via an external rear hatch, employs a heat exchanger, facilitating the adjustment of water temperatures.

The Kube seems ideal for a couple who require a stylish, well-designed, and constructed bedroom on wheels or base camp for those extended trips to the beach or mountains. We reached out to the Kimberley Kampers distributor in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and confirmed that the Kube will be available in late fall or early summer. According to media reports, pricing should be in the region of $50,000, depending on various factors such as the exchange rate, shipping fees, and additional, optional extras.
