Kimberley Kampers Comes to the USA

Anyone who knows anything about off-road caravans in Australia will know Kimberley Kampers. This brand of sleek yet rugged trailers has been conquering the outback for decades, surviving the toughest corrugations and tracks the continent has to offer while providing a serene escape for their owners in camp. Their performance and durability have earned them a following around the world, including North America where these trailers weren’t even offered. Sure, a few very determined customers jumped through the hoops to bring their own Kimberley stateside, but for those of us without the means, we were forced to stand by and dream of a day when these Australian legends would reach American shores. Well, dream no longer, because Kimberley Kampers is officially coming to the US of A.

Although we don’t have an exact landing date for showroom inventory, company representatives have confirmed that trailers will begin arriving on lots within the year. In fact, if you’re ready to buy one now, you can now order your US trailer today by contacting the Australian team through their website. The full line of Australian models is available including their smaller Kampers, mid-sized hard-sided Karavans, and full-sized Kruisers. They even noted that there will be some North-American specific models designed to compete in the smaller tear-drop space.

But what will they cost? As you’d expect, we weren’t provided exact numbers due to the number of options these trailers can be equipped with, but Kimberley did provide us with a range that each model will fall into depending on how it is specced. The Kamper model will fall between $33,000 and $55,000 USD, the Karavan between $60,000 and $75,000 USD, and the Cruiser between $70,000 and $135,000 USD, which is actually very competitive with the Australian market. A destination fee will be tacked onto these prices of course, but overall we feel that’s a lot of trailer for the money.

Still, if that sounds like more cash than you want to drop all at once, don’t worry, Kimberely plans to have a nationwide dealer network that not only offers service throughout the country but RV financing as well.

While that nationwide dealer network may take a while, you won’t have to wait long to get your first peek at the trailers. When I spoke to the Kimberely representative, he mentioned that they plan to be at the Four-wheeler Adventure Expo in California this weekend, and will definitely be at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff this summer. We’re looking forward to seeing them there, and hopefully on the trail soon after.
