When EarthCruiser (EC) announces a new model, it’s big news. The Bend, Oregon-based manufacturer moves methodically, only adding the TerraNova expedition vehicle to its long-standing Mitsubishi- and Isuzu-platformed EarthCruisers in the last year. But they’re on a roll now, with plans to develop a Hummer EV expedition truck in direct partnership with GMC, as well as an all-new slide-in camper. To round out the lineup, the EarthCruiser Evado is their first foray into the van market.
With Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit AWD options, the Evado will feature EarthCruiser’s fully insulated molded fiberglass shell construction for the camper, which will include a walk-through design and dedicated bike storage (a first for EarthCruiser). “For years, we’ve had inquiries from customers wondering why we don’t offer an EC model built on a van platform when seemingly everyone does,” EarthCruiser founder Lance Gillies said. “Now, with Ford and Mercedes offering body-on-frame (also known as cab-chassis) AWD options for the Ford AWD Transit and Mercedes AWD Sprinter in the United States, we are confident we can produce true overlanding capable vehicles on a van platform. This expansion of the EC line is part of our larger plans to offer more chassis choices to our customers as technology brings more opportunities for our customers.”
As with all of its models, EC will offer fully customizable options for accessories and add-ons on the Evado, including boosted onboard power storage and exterior and interior upgrades like light bars and microwaves. No word yet on pricing or availability, but you can reserve your EarthCruiser Evado with a deposit by emailing sales@earthcruiser.com.
