It has long been the opinion of many dyed-in-the-wool overland travelers that the original Defender 130 was, in many ways, the ideal overland vehicle. The robust and capable vehicle exuded a sense of adventure and practicality. Offering a relatively long wheelbase and high load capacity, the 130 could carry your team and their gear to the far reaches of the planet. The new Defender 130 has large boots to fill, and we are excited at the prospect of a new 130 which will continue where the classic left off.
We have limited information about the vehicle, but Land Rover maintains that the new 8-seat Defender 130, to be revealed on May 31, 2022, will be ready for any adventure with premium interior practicality for up to eight occupants across three rows of seating, a spacious 2-3-3 seat configuration, the latest digital technologies, and advanced integrated chassis technologies. Yet to be confirmed are engine, suspension, accessory options, roof rack weight limits, and total load-carrying capacity.
Naturally, most do not travel in teams of eight. It is imaginable that the extra space afforded by the longer wheelbase will allow families and those traveling with a large amount of gear to have ample opportunities to adapt the cavernous interior for cargo and essentials.
The Defender 130 will complement the Defender 110 and Defender 90 to complete the lineup. We will provide more information and images as soon as possible. Order books open in line with the reveal on May 31, 2022.
