Harry and Chloe from The Landy Expedition recently shared their experiences exploring Uganda, featuring their journey to Sipi Falls and the source of the River Nile. Their narrative provides an authentic glimpse into overlanding in Africa, emphasizing the joy of connecting with local people and immersing in the culture. The couple’s filming style is genuine and gives a good feel of the realities of overlanding in Africa.
Their trek to Sipi Falls involved friendly locals guiding them to the waterfalls. After exploring the falls, they headed to Jinja and camped at The Haven, a picturesque site near the Nile’s source. The couple’s journey also included a tense encounter in a sugarcane field near Jinja that exemplifies why night driving is hardly ever a good idea. On their way back from dinner, they were confronted by a group of men working the sugar cane fields and wielding machetes. Harry’s quick thinking and calm demeanor diffused the situation. He turned a potentially dangerous encounter into a positive interaction by being diplomatic and respectful.
Harry and Chloe’s Ugandan adventure captures the essence of overlanding—exploring new places, embracing challenges, and connecting with diverse cultures. They deeply appreciate Uganda’s beauty and hospitality, ranking it among their favorite African destinations. Their experiences underscore the broader lessons in travel: the value of curiosity, kindness, and adaptability.
