Overland Scout’s recent video, filmed in the summer of 2022 but recently published, captures the sheer excitement and peril of traversing this iconic trail. Known for its narrow paths, steep drops, and rocky terrain, Black Bear Pass demands skill and experience from drivers. The trail reaches over 12,800 feet, offering breathtaking views of the San Juan Mountains, Bridal Veil Falls, and historic mining sites. Although it was closed throughout most of 2023, efforts are underway to clear the trail, with hopes of reopening soon.
