Loca Ceramic Pour-over Coffee Filter

When it comes to vehicle-based travel, I am always on the lookout for products that can replace consumable items—for instance, this ceramic pour-over coffee filter. Instead of having to rely on paper filters with your coffee system (which you might have to replace while on the road during longer expeditions), this device is the filter. Ceramics also have the unique ability to improve the flavor of certain things (I’ve experienced this with a ceramic stirring rod and orange juice). Because of this quality, the makers of the Loca suggest that it can produce an even more delicious cup of coffee than whatever your existing brewing method is. And if this filter gets clogged with fine particles, you can just hold it over your camp stove to burn the accumulated sediments away without any worry of damaging the filter. That’s pretty neat.

Midland MXT 500 and 575

The MXT500 and 575 50-watt GMRS two-way radios, part of Midland’s Micromobile lineup, are the most powerful that the company currently offers (and allowed by law). The MXT500 utilizes 15 GMRS frequencies and eight repeater channels to broadcast transmissions in sprawling terrains, like ranches and off-highway trail systems. The MXT500 carries an IP66 waterproof rating, has an auxiliary USB-C port for charging other devices, provides NOAA weather alerts, has hi/med/low settings, and is both wide- and narrow-band capable.

The MXT575 is very similar, offering all of the same features and performance as the 500, but with a low-profile, screenless base unit. The hand-mic of the MXT575 has an LCD screen for controlling the functions of the radio.

Bajio Swash Sunglasses

Bajío sunglasses are named after the Spanish term for saltwater flats, the transitional zone between the beach and the deep blue waters of the ocean. This diverse area is home to a wide variety of aquatic life and also provides one of the most beautiful backdrops for saltwater angling for species like tarpon, permit, and bonefish, to name a few.

Bajío’s sunglasses protect your eyes with high-quality lenses as well as the bajíos of the world through sustainable business practices and by supporting ocean-based environmental conservation groups.

Their Swash model features a lightweight, oversized frame made from bio-based nylon, a material that biodegrades faster than conventional plastics yet is up to 10 times stronger. The Swash’s polycarbonate or glass lenses have an oleophobic coating to prevent scratching, are polarized, and feature blue light-blocking technology to ease eye strain and fatigue during long days in bright sunlight.

Rago Fabrication Aqua Tank

Rago has a new piece of kit for your 4Runner: an aluminum windshield washer fluid tank that mounts snugly behind your vehicle’s grille. This pressure-tested TIG-welded tank utilizes the factory pump and connects to your factory hoses for an easy 10-minute installation (according to Rago). But why would you want to replace your stock wiper fluid tank? A common problem for 4Runner owners who have installed aftermarket bumpers and/or larger tires on their vehicles is that their factory washer fluid tanks end up being exposed, an issue that can result in damage on the trail. This replacement tank solves that problem with better durability and a footprint that provides improved tire clearance for vehicles with larger-than-stock tires.

Flarespace Rear Window Vents

Good ventilation is a crucial element of any campervan build that can help reduce the likelihood of mold and rust, two common problems that should be avoided at all costs. Flarespace’s rear window vents can be a part of your solution, delivering improved ventilation in your 2007-2022 Mercedes Sprinter or 148 Ford Transit van. These fiberglass replacements fit just like your factory windows, making installation a snap. Integrated screens allow for airflow while preventing bugs from getting into your living space.
