Overland Classifieds :: 2021 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-liter Diesel Tremor w/OEV Camp-X

It’s interesting to see so many people opting for full-size trucks recently, despite record gas prices. Economy is just one consideration when choosing an overland platform, and when it comes to rolling homes, it’s arguably not the number one priority. Make no mistake, gas mileage is important. I just spent $607 to cover 800 miles in my Syncro, which hurt. Keep in mind when embarking on a long-term trip or if living on the road full time that much of the cost is offset by traveling in a vehicle.

Every night that you wild camp, you’re saving money on a motel or campground, and the ability to cook and make coffee inside your rig further offsets your gas bill. Now, this is the crux: you’re likely to spend more time inside your rig and less time spending money elsewhere if you have a comfortable interior living space and generous amenities. To facilitate this, you’re going to need a vehicle with an adequate payload, which often means a full-size truck and thus a thirstier motor. The sweet spot is a full-size truck suitable for a well-equipped camper but with an engine that returns respectable fuel mileage. This immediately excludes many petrol offerings, with some owners stating on Expedition Portal’s forum that they’re selling due to extortionate fuel consumption (reference this 2018 Ram Power Wagon). Other diesel options are also disappointing.

Ford has made considerable progress in this department, thanks to sophisticated EcoBoost technology and a range of vastly improved diesel motors. The 6.7-liter diesel in the F-250 is one such engine, with many owners reporting a 20 or more mpg average (hardly Prius territory). But for a full-size truck with a 7,850-pound payload, that’s impressive. Today’s example has covered just 19,000 miles, features a long list of premium modifications, and has a fully equipped Overland Explorer Vehicles Camp-X camper.

From the Seller:

No expense was spared in this ultimate build. Corey, aka @overlanddad, did a superb job building this rig, and after purchasing it from him, I’ve been blessed to enjoy it from 12,000-19,000 miles. Life changes and the time has come for me to say goodbye, so I’m listing this dream vehicle. This rig was featured on the cover of Tread Magazine in December 2020.”

2021 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-liter Diesel

The F-250 is fitted with a 6.7-liter diesel engine that produces 475 horsepower and a mind-blowing 1,050 pound-feet of torque. This huge output means the truck provides a considerable 7,850-pound maximum payload and a 24,200-pound towing capacity (These figures vary depending on cab and cargo bed configuration.) These impressive statistics are mated with rugged go-anywhere capabilities, thanks to Ford’s Tremor off-road package thatincorporates a lift kit, locking rear differential, front axle with limited-slip differential, skid plates, Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, uprated shocks, and intelligent 4WD systems (such as Rock-Crawl Mode and Trail Control). Inside, this example showcases the Lariat trim, with driver comforts that include:

  • Infotainment system with navigation
  • Leather upholstery
  • Power heated and cooled front seats
  • Ambient lighting
  • Wireless device charging and two 400-watt inverter plugs
