The Ram 2500 Power Wagon is one of the few full-size trucks designed from the factory for rugged backcountry trails. To tackle the toughest terrain, it’s uprated with a Warn winch, front and rear locking differentials, skid plates, front sway bar disconnect, Bilstein monotube shocks, and more. It’s a popular choice on our forum, with recent adventure-ready examples like this 2019 with a Go Fast Campers camper, a 2020 overland build, and a 2014 with a Four Wheel Campers Hawk. Today’s 2500 is not a Power Wagon, but instead features the Power Wagon package. I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t realize this was even an option and was immediately excited about the prospect of upgrading a Cummins powered 2500 with this package (the Power Wagon was only offered with the Hemi). Alas, due to the configuration of the modifications, you can only outfit the Hemi model with this package. However, if you’re set on a diesel, you could opt for the Ram 2500 AEV Prospector, which can be picked up on the second hand market for similar money (check out this $52,000 offering for reference). The question is why choose this vehicle over an actual Power Wagon? I’m sure cost is a factor, but more importantly it allows customers to do away with many of the fancy interior electrics and accessories found in the Power Wagon, and instead create a more rugged, work-friendly rig that features the same capability but with less to go wrong. Today’s example has covered just 38,500 miles.
From the Seller:
“For sale is my 2018 RAM 2500 Tradesman with the Power Wagon package. This truck is essentially a Power Wagon mechanically but with a Tradesman-level interior trim. RAM seems to produce far fewer of these than the actual Power Wagon. When I purchased this truck new, I specifically targeted this option because I didn’t want the Power Wagon badging and decals and didn’t need as many bells and whistles in the interior. Instead, I wanted the mechanical functionality but with a stealth look.”
