Overland Classifieds :: 2016 Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 Overland Build

The Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 platform is popular amongst overlanders, with recent examples including this 2019 Winnebago Revel and 2017 4×4 2500. This is a very sought-after vehicle, and during the pandemic, prices rocketed, with newer models, such as this 2021 Sprinter Revel, fetching almost $180,000 on the used market. However, there are still deals to be had, and this 2016 4×4 overland build is one of them. This low-mileage (71,500 miles) “High Roof” offering showcases a Tourig camper conversion, a long list of premium modifications, and is listed at $90,000. If you’re looking for a turnkey Sprinter, then best be quick because this won’t hang around!

From the Seller:

We built this van specifically for remote, international travel. We have driven it extensively in Mexico and Guatemala and built it specifically for that purpose. What it lacks in lifestyle comforts, it more than makes up for in capability, durability, and utility. We have found it to be an extremely versatile and infinitely configurable build. This van is great for four-season travel, off-grid living, and is perfect for two but can seat four with plenty of room for gear/equipment/sports. The van is set up for outdoor living, including cooking. We have never cooked food inside the van (no food smells or splatters).”

2016 Mercedes Sprinter 4×4

The 2016 Sprinter 4×4 is fitted with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel that produces 188 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. A long-lived motor is mated with an intelligent 4WD system (technically AWD) that can send 33 percent of the torque to the front wheels. The stock all-terrain capability is adequate but can be improved with aftermarket modifications. These include Van Compass specialist lift kits and a limited-slip/locking differential from ARB.

Tourig is an overland outfitter and expedition vehicle builder based in Golden, Colorado. Alongside complete vehicle builds, the company also offers suspension and lifts, performance tunes, camper conversions, winterization packages, and many innovative parts and accessories available online.
